HOULAGANS travel teams

Houlagan Lacrosse was established in 2010. For over 3 decades our owner and coach, Sean Houlahan has been involved in the sport of lacrosse. Coach Houlahan played his early years in the popular lacrosse areas of upstate New York and went on to play college lacrosse at Boston College. Over the past 20 years, he has coached at the high school level in both New York and New Hampshire. Coach Houlahan is a 2-time college All-American, 2-time New Hampshire coach of the year, and has coached teams to New Hampshire state titles. Houlagan Lacrosse is a family-owned and operated lacrosse club that is dedicated to developing players of all ages and skill levels and committed to growing the game of Lacrosse. We offer programming in Hampton NH, Epping NH, Bedford NH, York ME, and Andover MA. If you are looking for a fun, competitive environment for your son/daughter to grow in the game of lacrosse, we hope to see you at our upcoming evaluations and tryouts!

SEASONAL OVERVIEW

FALL TRAVEL- To avoid interfering with other fall sports and activities, our fall season is the lightest of the travel team year. Teams practice one night a week, with 5-6 team practices between mid-September and late October.

WINTER- During the winter months, Houlagan Lacrosse offers our Winter Academy series of skills and drills. Players have the option of registering for whatever fits into their schedule and skill level. Our Academy Series runs in three, 6-week sessions in our Epping, Hampton, Concord, and York ME Seacoast United facilities.

BOX LACROSSE- Two years ago, we created our highly successful box lacrosse program. Every kid should play box lacrosse, it’s that simple! Box is played at a faster pace than the field game and is played in tighter spaces. Although not mandatory for our travel players, we highly encourage our players to participate over the winter. Teams practice on Sunday nights and typically participate in 1-2 tournaments. The box lacrosse season starts up in late November and runs through early January.

SPRING SEASON/YOUTH- For our youth athletes, in grades 3-8, this is our warm-up season as players get ready to compete in their summer events. Practices run for 6-8 weeks on Friday evenings starting early April through the end of May. Teams go to one spring event/tournament and compete on the weekends against other New England area clubs. We strongly believe that in the spring players’ town lacrosse teams come first! We set our schedule for practices and games not to interfere with the youth lacrosse programs in your area.

SPRING SEASON/HIGH SCHOOL- For our high school athletes, the spring is completely dedicated to focusing on college recruitment. Players will all have access to 3-4 college recruitment and alumni nights, working with college coaches at the D1, D2, and D3 levels to help them strategize their college wants and needs. These are held through various in-person and virtual events during times that will not conflict with JV and Varsity spring lacrosse seasons.

SUMMER TRAVEL- Summer is the culmination of a full year of hard work for our athletes at all age levels! Our summer teams practice 2 nights a week at our outdoor turf facility at Seacoast United in Epping, NH. Players have 10-12 practices beginning in early June and running through late July. All teams attend 3-4 summer tournaments in the New England area. Our elite teams have the option of attending 1 national event outside of the New England area over the summer.

*Our goal is to keep our rosters between 15-20 players with 2-3 coaches per team. This allows for coaches to spend maximum time with athletes on their team and allows for players to get a high number of touches every time they step on the field.

HOW TUITION WORKS

Over the past 2 seasons, we have adapted to a full-year registration structure. We found that keeping the players together as a group for longer lengths of time serves in 3 major areas in developing our athletes:

1. PLAYER

Having the player involved for the full year allows the player the maximum number of touches, reps, and allowable hours with coaches to make the biggest impact on development.

2. COACH

Throughout the course of the year, coaches have the opportunity to work through the progressions with players to make the biggest impact on the individual player development and growth of the team.

3. TEAM

We firmly believe that the longer the players on a team play together the better the players develop as a group.

With that being said we do offer the opportunity for all of our players to only play in the fall, spring, or summer seasons. We understand that life can be busy and as young athletes, players can be pulled in many directions throughout the year. We are a program that is built on athletes and do not discourage our players from playing in their other sports opportunities, especially when many other sports have great crossover language/skills that help develop our players at all age levels.

Financial Aid

Financial assistance is available, on a limited basis, to those who qualify. Every athlete who has a passion for his sport should be able to participate, regardless of their financial status. It is our goal at Houlagan Lacrosse to assist those individuals and families requiring financial assistance. Financial Aid is limited and need-based.

* Off-season skills can be registered for on an as-wanted basis.

**Payment Plan options will be available during registration

***Any players wishing to look at registrations on an A La Carte basis will be considered on an as-needed basis.
